Reindeer skin from Kero is vegetable-tanned, using tanning agents from trees with high tannin content. These trees are grown on plantations in South America and therefore do not cause depletion of the rainforests. The reindeer skin is about 9-12 sq. ft. in size, and has a thickness of 0.6mm – 0.8 mm. excellent for accessories, handbags and small leather goods.
The reindeer skin is bought in the Nordic countries from Sámi communities that have practised reindeer herding for several centuries. So the reindeer skin is locally produced and bears a certificate of origin that it is a Nordic animal.
This vegetable-tanned, soft reindeer skin has a semi-aniline finish which does not conceal the natural variations in the leather surface. In addition, the leather surface has been treated to reduce its sensitivity to water and be water repellent.
